6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Year B
I’d like to begin by asking the adults here a question: Who has influenced the way you live your life?
I read the obituaries every day, first to see if my name shows up and secondly to look over the list of the survivors of the deceased to see if anyone from our parish is listed there. It is interesting to note how often people say he (she) taught me the value of hard work or integrity or a sense of humor, or kindness, etc.
We celebrate the 45th anniversary of the dedication of St. John Fisher Church on February 15, 2021. Like the town of Marlborough itself, the parish was carved out of already existing communities. By the early 1970s, Marlborough’s growing Catholic population was worshipping in several nearby towns, including East Hampton, Colchester and Glastonbury.
Join our faith community, and more than 12,000 Catholic communities across the United Statesin a life changing Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl. Pick up your family’s CRS Rice Bowl from the vestibule or stop by the parish office during office hours. During the 40 days of Lent, we will reflect on how hunger and malnutrition affect our human family, and on the need to take action to end this global injustice. Visit crsricebowl.org to learn more.
Prepare for Easter by receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. During Lent, Father Sas will be hearing Confessions every Saturday in the Chapel from 3:003:30 PM. Masks are required and we ask that you sanitize your hands before entering the Chapel.
5th Sunday in Ordinary Time B21
Job was having a rough time of it. He has lost everything: possessions, sons and daughters, property, and even his health. His friends were no comfort with their explanation that it was caused by sin and therefore this was entirely his fault.
Listen to his words again: “Is not man’s life on earth a drudgery? … I have been assigned months of misery and troubled nights have been allotted to me. … I shall not see happiness again.”[1]
That’s a pretty good example of a “pity party”.
