Donna Sawan is pictured here as she brought our parish Easter donations to Journey Home. They were most appreciative and loved the idea of Easter baskets.A special Thank You to everyone who helped make this all possible!
Our mission is to ensure a home for all.
Weâve spent more than a decade committed to ending homelessness in Connecticutâs Capital region by applying sustainable solutions to the barriers that create cycles of homelessness.
Every day, we work to:
Richard Buckminster Fuller says, âYou never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.â
For Connecticut, that new model is the Coordinated Access Network, a way for people who are experiencing homelessness to access housing and support services in a standardized and organized way. It involves having clear protocols, assessment tools, and agreed-upon priorities within the community that serves homeless individuals.
This past April 7th, the 9th grade Confirmation class completed a community service event of assembling 120 bags of breakfast food items that were donated by the parishioners and the 9th grade Confirmation families of STJF to benefit ImmaCare Inc. located in Hartford. ImmaCare Inc., strives to eliminate homelessness in the Hartford region, by creating safe and affordable housing options and increasing the skills, income and hope of those who struggle with housing crisis. They had so much fun assembling these bags knowing that this food will help all those people in need in the Hartford area. A HUGE Thank You for all those families who donated these yummy food items! It was received with much appreciation!
There are many opportunities to participate in St. John Fisher Parish life by demonstrating your given talents and skills - be it in the various volunteer ministries, social groups or in support of staffed positions. In addition, we are looking for help in the following areas:
Care and watering of the inside church plants and flowers
Altar decorations and outdoor door decorations
Decorating and care of the entrance areas and vestibule
Periodic ironing of the altar cloths and banners
Communications - internal, external and written correspondence
Please let our church secretary, Heather, know if you are able to help out in any of the above areas. Our many thanks in advance!
Itâs meeting new parishioners or connecting with those youâve seen in church, but maybe never met.
Itâs time to enjoy conversations and even brief moments of passing greetings.
Itâs talking over Mass, the homily, or music.
Itâs plans for Easter, dinner, or time at home with family.
Itâs time to share pictures, experience youâve have had or are coming up.
Thank you for the opportunity to bring this all together.
Priest Shares Powerful Truth About Catholicism!
The 2024 Archbishopâs Annual Appeal is now underway. Your support of this yearâs Appeal ensures that essential charitable, educational and pastoral ministries of the Archdiocese of Hartford will be carried forward.
Since 1997, Archbishopâs Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program has been able to provide over $21 million in funding to community-based local charities throughout Hartford, New Haven and Litchfield Counties to assist them in their important work of serving the needs of Godâs people. In 2023, we were able to provide nearly $900,000 to over 150 various organizations. Organizations such as AHM and Marlborough Food Bank, right here in our own town, received funding.

In the rich tapestry of Christian theology, few metaphors are as poignant and powerful as that of Jesus being referred to as "the Lamb." Found predominantly in the New Testament of the Bible, this imagery evokes deep theological significance, encapsulating the essence of Christ's sacrificial mission and the redemption he offers to humanity.
John 1:29: The Proclamation of John the Baptist
The Gospel of John opens with a striking declaration by John the Baptist upon seeing Jesus: "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29). In these words, John the Baptist not only acknowledges Jesus' divine identity but also foretells his sacrificial role in redeeming humanity from sin. By likening Jesus to a lamb, John draws upon the imagery of sacrificial offerings in Jewish tradition, symbolizing Jesus' ultimate sacrifice for the salvation of all.
Revelation: The Lamb Standing as if Slain
The book of Revelation provides vivid imagery of Jesus as the Lamb in various passages. In Revelation 5:6-14, a Lamb standing as if it had been slain is depicted at the center of heavenly worship, receiving adoration and praise from celestial beings. This imagery emphasizes Jesus' sacrificial death and victorious resurrection, underscoring his role as the focal point of divine worship and the source of redemption for humanity.
The Mass is filled with biblical references and is itself an act from scripture.
As people of faith, we have a moral obligation to uphold human dignity and support our sisters and brothers in need around the world. Humanitarian assistance can provide stability for people in times of conflict and economic stress. Please visit www.crs.org to send a message to your representative asking them to support supplemental package that includes $9.2 billion for vital humanitarian assistance. Thanks for your support!
In the town of Marlborough, the St. John Fisher Parish is bustling with activity as the Christian Outreach Committee is preparing for a year filled with service and outreach opportunities. The committee members are dedicated to following the teachings of Jesus Christ and are eager to involve all our parishioners in their mission to serve the community.
For 2024, the committee is meticulously planning a series of recurrent monthly outreach events to address food and financial insecurity in our community. These events included a monthly food drive supporting the Marlborough Food Bank, sandwich collection and making for patrons of St. Vincent dePaul in Middletown, and the Community Giving Garden providing fresh produce to the Marlborough Food Bank throughout the spring and fall months.
In addition to the recurrent monthly events, the committee has scheduled specific outreach initiatives for each month of the year. From New Year intentions and prayers to a drive-thru café serving patrons of the Marlborough Food Bank, the committee has thoughtfully organized a diverse range of opportunities for parishioners to get involved and make a difference in the lives of others.

đ«đœBaby Shower Supporting Babies and Moms
Beginning on Motherâs Day weekend, 5/11 & 5/12, we will host a baby shower for Caring Families in Willimantic. This organization provides support to moms (many times young and unwed) who give birth to their child. Supporting these moms in their decision is another part of our calling to honor the preciousness of life.
We are a beacon of Godâs gracious and merciful love as we glorify His name through service to others; devotion to His teachings and His Son Jesus; and by maintaining a welcoming, accepting and embracing Catholic community of faith that judges none, embraces and protects the vulnerable, builds community of all ages and life stages and acts for the greater Glory of God.
We provide an open, welcoming and active Catholic faith community that is inspired by the gifts of the Holy Spirit as we demonstrate our faith by (1) actively participating in Mass and the Sacraments, (2) by serving and ministering to others, (3) by exploring and sharing the Word and teachings of Jesus and (4) by openly embracing the various needs of our entire parish family and broader community in Christ.
