The Divine Mercy Novena of Chaplets
Fifth Day:

Today bring to Me THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO HAVE SEPARATED THEMSELVES FROM MY CHURCH,* and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church, My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion.

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son's Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.

*Our Lord's original words here were "heretics and schismatics," since He spoke to Saint Faustina within the context of her times. As of the Second Vatican Council, Church authorities have seen fit not to use those designations in accordance with the explanation given in the Council's Decree on Ecumenism (n.3). Every pope since the Council has reaffirmed that usage. Saint Faustina herself, her heart always in harmony with the mind of the Church, most certainly would have agreed. When at one time, because of the decisions of her superiors and Father confessor, she was not able to execute Our Lord's inspirations and orders, she declared: "I will follow Your will insofar as You will permit me to do so through Your representative. O my Jesus, I give priority to the voice of the Church over the voice with which You speak to me" (Diary, 497). The Lord confirmed her action and praised her for it.

In the town of Marlborough, the St. John Fisher Parish is bustling with activity as the Christian Outreach Committee is preparing for a year filled with service and outreach opportunities. The committee members are dedicated to following the teachings of Jesus Christ and are eager to involve all our parishioners in their mission to serve the community.

For 2024, the committee is meticulously planning a series of recurrent monthly outreach events to address food and financial insecurity in our community. These events included a monthly food drive supporting the Marlborough Food Bank, sandwich collection and making for patrons of St. Vincent dePaul in Middletown, and the Community Giving Garden providing fresh produce to the Marlborough Food Bank throughout the spring and fall months.

In addition to the recurrent monthly events, the committee has scheduled specific outreach initiatives for each month of the year. From New Year intentions and prayers to a drive-thru café serving patrons of the Marlborough Food Bank, the committee has thoughtfully organized a diverse range of opportunities for parishioners to get involved and make a difference in the lives of others.

The calendar is filled with events such as a Baby Shower to support young moms and babies, a Back-to-School Supplies Drive for Marlborough Elementary School and RHAM families, and a Thanksgiving Food Drive and Thanksgiving Pie Making event. The committee also plans a Christmas Giving Program to spread joy and support to those in need during the holiday season.

As the year unfolds, the members of the St. John Fisher Parish Christian Outreach Committee are working tirelessly to engage our parishioners and the wider community in these meaningful service opportunities. Their dedication and compassion are a shining example of the spirit of giving and selflessness, and their efforts bring hope and support to those in need.

The town of Marlborough can't help but be touched by the kindness and generosity of our parishioners, and the impact of their service and outreach initiatives. The Christian Outreach Committee has truly embodied the teachings of Jesus Christ, and a commitment to serving others to make a profound difference in the lives of many.

We are always looking for new members to join the Christian Outreach Committee as they research and plan various events to involve parishioners as they act on what Jesus asks of us - "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." John 13:14-15

St. John Fisher Parish Vision:

We are a beacon of God’s gracious and merciful love as we glorify His name through service to others; devotion to His teachings and His Son Jesus; and by maintaining a welcoming, accepting and embracing Catholic community of faith that judges none, embraces and protects the vulnerable, builds community of all ages and life stages and acts for the greater Glory of God.

St. John Fisher Parish Mission:

We provide an open, welcoming and active Catholic faith community that is inspired by the gifts of the Holy Spirit as we demonstrate our faith by (1) actively participating in Mass and the Sacraments, (2) by serving and ministering to others, (3) by exploring and sharing the Word and teachings of Jesus and (4) by openly embracing the various needs of our entire parish family and broader community in Christ.
