We asked, you answered and now we are moving to create and offer Children's Liturgy of the Word during 10:30 Sunday Mass. In order to do so, we need volunteers to lead the program on a rotating basis. Leaders will take the children at the beginning of Mass and then return them to the congregation after the homily. Children will learn about the weekly readings in an appropriate language for their understanding. Generally children ages 3-10 would participate, but younger children may also participate with an older sibling or a parent.
All materials will be provided, as well as a quick training to make leaders comfortable. The more leader volunteers we have the fewer times they will need to serve - the thought is to create a rotating calendar with the group of volunteers. Leaders could be parents, grandparents, other adults or teens/youth. We will also have a Virtus trained adult present at all sessions, with hopes all leaders will become Virtus trained (a child and vulnerable adult online training program offered and mandated by the Archdiocese for volunteers working with the identified populations).
